42.2 km is the distance between the city of Marathon and Athens.
The Greek soldier who brought the news of the victory ran that distance and then died.
The Marathon race reentered the Olympics at the end of the 19th century.
Today almost 500 big cities in the world host a Marathon once a year and Jerusalem is one of them.
This upcoming event is the sixth Marathon in Jerusalem.
Runners from all over the world are coming to experience their favorite sport,
between the old and the new monuments of the city.
They represent different countries and religions.
All of the running courses start in front of the Israel museum and pass through the Israeli Parliament,
the Knesset, the Supreme Court, the old walls of the city, the Armenian quarter and mount Zion.
The athletes that run the entire Marathon feel the hills and valleys of Jerusalem.
Their track includes the two campuses of the Hebrew University,
Armon Ha-Natziv boardwalk and some residential areas of the city as well.
All you need to do is decide if you want to run and in which track?
If you don’t want to run, you can still cheer the runners.
